Using the InFocus 3D projector
The ceiling mounted InFocus projector in front of the room can be used to display regular presentations from a laptop but it is also capable of displaying 3D content.
Using Windows or Linux laptop with VGA or HDMI cable
- Power up the projector by pressing the Power button using either the wall switch or the remote control for the projector (labeled InFocus). If using the remote make sure you are pointing it at the projector. Wait approximately 1 min until you see the projector's startup image on the projector screen.
- Use the wall switch or remote to select the appropriate Source – either VGA1 or HDMI. This depends on what cable you are connecting to you laptop. The HDMI cable has a flat connector, the VGA cable has a wider connector with 15 pins.
- Plug in the appropriate video cable (VGA or HDMI) to your laptop. Your laptop must be turned on already.
- Many laptops do not automatically turn on their external VGA video port when a projector is connected. Usually a key combination like Fn + F8 or CRT/LCD key turns the external display on and off. Locate a function key labeled CRT/LCD or a function key with a monitor symbol and press Fn and the labeled function key simultaneously.
- When you have finished using the projector, please turn it off by pressing the Power button on either the wall switch or the remote control.
Using Apple device with AirPlay
- Power up the projector by pressing the Power button on either the wall switch or the remote control (labeled InFocus). If using the remote make sure you are pointing it at the projector. Wait approximately 1 min until you see the projector's start-up image on the projector screen.
- Use the wall switch or remote to select HDMI as the Source. Do not connect any cables to your laptop, iPad or iPhone.
- You should see Apple TV home screen on the projector screen.
- Ensure that your iOS device is on the UCSD-PROTECTED Wi-Fi network. On the iOS device, swipe up to reveal the Control Center. Tap the “AirPlay Mirroring” button. Select “Keck” from the list. On your Apple device, enter the four-digit code that appears on the projector screen. You should be now connected. If the connection fails, cancel AirPlay and try to connect again. Note: You need to have iOS version 10.12 or higher on your Apple device for AirPlay to work.
- When you have finished using the projector, please turn it off by pressing the Power button on either the wall switch or the remote control.
